Olivia Sumich (BA Hons, CELTA)
With a language background comprising of studies in Spanish, Italian,
Portuguese, some French, Te Reo Maori and a wee bit of Croatian and Mandarin -
one could describe Olivia Sumich as (just slightly) obsessed with learning other
languages!
Olivia's qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Education, Italian
and Linguistics at the University of Auckland, New Zealand,
a Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in English Language
Teaching to Adults), studies in immersion environments overseas, 5 years teaching ESL, Spanish and
Italian, 10 years directing, producing and event managing theatrical productions and
music/dance festivals in New Zealand including The University of Aucklands
Outdoor Summer Shakespeares 2000/01, The Jambalaya Festival 03/04/05/06, The New
Zealand Tango Festival 03/ 04/ 05/ 06, directed/produced full Italian language
production of Dario Fo's "Morte Accidentale di un Anarchico" (Accidental Death
of An Anarchist), University of Auckland, 1999.
Olivia has 23 years experience in Balkan folkloric dance styles, 11 years
experience in Salsa and Brazilian Samba and 6 years experience in Argentine
Tango.
Fernando Della Pasqua.
Fernando was born in Rosario, Argentina and lives his tradition through Tango
and Folklore. He began teaching salsa alongside Gaia Machiavello in
1998,
helping promote and establish salsa dance groups thought Tasmania and later
co-founding Hobart's "Salsa de Locos" in 2004. With the support of Mebourne's
Vivadance, he pioneered the early days of the Argentine Tango movement in
Tasmania, was founding president of the "Tasmanian Club de Tango Inc."
and organiser of the Hobart's First Tasmanian Tango Festival in 2004.
While living in New Zealand he lead dance groups in Dunedin and Taupo.
Fernando has been an invited guest teacher at the NZ Tango Festival, the NZ Tango
Congress and the 1st Australian Tango Congress. .
